Being a Christian mom in today’s fast-paced world is both rewarding and challenging. Our generation is faced with a new set of obstacles when it comes to Christian parenting and raising Godly kids.
We will have to have conversations with our kiddos that our parents probably never had with us. We will face criticism for what we allow our children to watch or not watch – what we will choose to expose them to and what we will shelter them from.
We will be faced with finding a balance between sheltering and educating our children so they are adequately equipped with the tools they will need to navigate the secular world we are immersed in.
As you strive to raise your children in alignment with your faith, I want to encourage you to tackle challenges one step at a time. I know it can get overwhelming when I begin to think about this world and what my baby girl will grow up surrounded by. All it takes is a quick scroll through Instagram reels or TikTok to feel weighed down by our society.
Just the pressure on young girls alone to leave their childhood behind at such a young age and embrace these insane beauty standards breaks my heart. When I was their age, my friends and I would blindfold each other and apply makeup for fun. I was walking around the mall with lipstick smeared across my cheek – I didn’t know the first thing about contouring, sex, or Kim Kardashian like so many of these preteen girls do today.
But as Christian moms, we have the opportunity and the position to influence our children 1000 times over the media.
I’ve put together a few simple tips for Christian moms to start on the right foot each day. If nothing else, I hope these tips provide easy and actionable steps you can take to refocus and prioritize raising Godly children in an ungodly world. Remember, one day at a time, one step at a time, and offer yourself the same grace God offers you.

Here are my five quick tips for Christian moms that can help you navigate the demands of motherhood while prioritizing your family’s faith:
1. Keep Christian Music Playing in the House
The power of music to influence our mood and mindset is well-known. By intentionally playing Christian music throughout the day, you create an atmosphere that uplifts and inspires your family. Every time I put music on in the morning, I find the outlook on my entire day shifts.
I’ll catch myself singing along more often than I would have thought. I am less inclined to pick up and scroll on social media. The tv turns on less because we already have background noise.
Plus, I am setting a healthy example for my baby girl. She gets a more relaxed, focused, and present version of her mom. And these will be the lyrics and songs she eventually sings along to. Instead of the media’s incessant messages of power, money, sex, and self-righteousness, she will have uplifting and encouraging songs reminding her just how much Jesus loves her, filling her mind.
This is such an easy and vastly rewarding tip to incorporate into your day. Playing Christian music in the house can be a powerful tool for drawing your family’s focus toward God and away from the focus of this world.

2. Pray in the Shower
Prayer can be hard. As a mom, you can probably relate to the mental burdens and responsibilities constantly consuming your mind. The mental load of parenthood is no joke.
I’ve found, however, that those few precious moments of peace and quiet in the shower are usually where I also get a mental break. Take advantage of this opportunity to talk with God. Nothing fancy, nothing scripted. Just talk to him. Everything you’re grateful for in the moment, challenges you need guidance on, frustrations you need to vent about, pray blessings over your family.
Prayer is powerful. And taking a few moments when your mind is just a little less burdened by the business of mom life to pray in the shower allows you to start your day with a focused and intentional connection with the Lord.

3. Set Boundaries and Learn How to Say No
As a mom, it’s natural to want to fulfill every request or invitation that comes your way. However, setting boundaries and learning to say no when necessary is crucial for your well-being and your family’s spiritual health. Prioritize your time and commitments, ensuring ample opportunities for rest, quality family time, and personal spiritual growth. By saying no to excessive demands, you create space for what truly matters and guard against burnout.
I actually wrote an entire blog post on this topic because of how important setting boundaries as a mom is! Be sure to read it if you haven’t already –> Setting Boundaries as a Mom: Overcoming Mom Burnout
4. Download VidAngel to Protect Your Kids
We’ve already talked about this a bit. I don’t have to tell you how important it is to safeguard your children’s exposure to inappropriate content in today’s media-saturated world. As much as I would love to say we don’t do screen time or social media in our homes, that’s just not true. However, we do protect what your children will have access to.
VidAngel is a digital streaming platform that allows you to filter out objectionable content from popular movies and TV shows. Not all technology is bad! By utilizing this tool, you can protect your children from harmful influences while still enjoying wholesome entertainment together as a family. It’s a practical and effective way to maintain a media environment aligned with your Christian parenting values.
5. Limit Social Media for You and Your Kids
Social media can be a double-edged sword, offering both opportunities for connection and potential distractions from our faith.
It’s important to set healthy boundaries around social media usage for yourself and your children (yes, you too). Establish designated times for scrolling. There are even some great apps and controls you can set up on your family’s phones that only allow social media access during certain times of the day.
When you do go on social media, encourage mindful (not mindless) engagement with uplifting content. Limit or eliminate the mindless scrolling and pay close attention to who you and your children follow.
Model responsible social media habits to your kids by demonstrating discernment and focusing on positive, encouraging, and faith-based interactions. Fill your news feed with Christian music artists like Toby Mac, Kari Jobe, and We The Kingdom. Find your church’s social media pages so their message clips appear in your feed when you scroll. (If you don’t have a church to follow, you can follow mine @sunvalleycc).
Take a few minutes to scroll now. What are the “suggested” or “for you” posts populating your feed? This will give you a good indication of what you typically watch and engage with. If you wouldn’t want your kids to spend time with these same types of posts, you have some changes to make, mama!
As a Christian mom, your role in nurturing your family’s faith is invaluable. By implementing these five quick tips into your daily routine, you can create an environment that fosters spiritual growth, safeguards against negative influences, and strengthens your family’s bond with God.
Use these Christian parenting tips as a starting point and adjust them to fit your own family’s unique personality and dynamics.
By prioritizing these practices, you can navigate the joys and challenges of motherhood while remaining firmly rooted in your Christian faith.
Mama, you are loved, and you are doing amazing.
